Clarence Kelly

Clarence Kelly was born on February 3, 1923, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and served in France and Holland with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. He was first wounded in July 1944 at Tilly-la-Campagne, just south of Caen, France. He recovered and rejoined his unit, only to be wounded again in December at Berg en Dal, Holland. This wound resulted in the amputation of his right leg below the knee.

Once he returned to Canada, Mr. Kelly joined The War Amps and held the positions of:

  • Secretary, First Vice-President and President, Halifax Branch
  • Branch Representative, War Amps Dominion Board of Directors
  • Member, War Amps National Council

He was a delegate at many War Amps conventions over the years and was later awarded the Distinguished Service Membership.

Mr. Kelly passed away on July 12, 1990.
